PAINTING THE STILL LIFE: ONLINE COURSE WITH ADAM CLAGUE

Description

Still life painting offers a smorgasbord for your creativity! A huge variety of subjects is fair game—everything from plants to produce to manmade objects, each offering a diverse range of colors, shapes, sizes, and textures. Still life painting also provides some unique conveniences. Unlike human models, fruits and flowers don’t charge by the hour. They don’t become upset if you don’t capture a perfect likeness. In contrast to landscape painting, the lighting can be controlled, so you don’t have to “chase” the changing sunlight.

However, still life painting is not without its challenges. Maybe your past attempts at painting fruit have looked flat and formless. Perhaps your flowers have appeared cut-out and pasted. Maybe your colors have felt “chalky” or “muddy.” Perhaps you’ve struggled with knowing how to set up a still life in the first place! I’m excited to show you how to conquer these difficulties and many more in this online course. You’ll learn how to:
  • Make fruit and other objects look 3-D and not flat
  • Identify the colors in your subject with the 3 Questions for Correct Color
  • Capture even the most subtle colors with my 6 Guidelines for Mixing Color
  • Avoid “chalky” or “muddy” color
  • Create forms that look properly rounded with “warms” and “cools”
  • Draw your viewer’s eye from across the room with the 4 Principles for Powerful Picture-Making
  • Set up your own dynamic still-life arrangements with confidence
  • And much more!

Advance Your Skills in Just 4 Weeks:
