In the first session, we’ll start by building a strong foundation for our lake scene. We’ll begin with thumbnail sketches to explore composition, then move into an underpainting to establish the lightest and darkest values. You’ll learn to create the illusion of depth and stillness in the water, focusing on capturing the subtle reflections of the sailboats, sky, and shoreline.

In the second session, we’ll refine the painting by adding layers of color, focusing on the interplay of light and shadow on the water. You’ll learn techniques to enhance the reflections, define ripples, and bring life to the scene. We’ll also explore how to balance cool and warm tones to convey the calm atmosphere of this tranquil landscape.

In the first session, we’ll tackle the complexities of a cascading waterfall by focusing on its structure and movement. Starting with thumbnails and an underpainting, you’ll learn to establish the flow of water and its interaction with the surrounding rocks. This session will focus on value relationships and how to create the illusion of motion.
24 Apr
In the final session, we’ll bring the waterfall to life by adding layers of color, texture, and detail. You’ll learn to capture the transparency and highlights of moving water while using contrasting textures to define rocks and greenery. By the end of the session, your painting will convey the dynamic energy and realism
